AJMAN: The Ajman Police General Command has apprehended two Asian nationals for selling and storing 797,555 electronic cigarettes without a license, in addition to committing tax evasion.
Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department at Ajman Police, stated that the police received a tip-off regarding a villa in Ajman being used for the illegal sale and storage of electronic cigarettes. In response, the Department of Investigations swiftly formed a task force and, after obtaining the necessary legal authorizations and coordinating with the Federal Prosecution for tax evasion crimes, conducted a raid on the premises.
During the raid, law enforcement personnel uncovered a significant quantity of electronic cigarettes from various manufacturers. The e-cigarettes were stored in five rooms within the villa and bore the trademarks of numerous electronic cigarette companies.
The suspects, identified as Asian nationals M. Sh. N, in his 40s, and M. Sh. H, in his 30s, were taken into custody. They have been referred to the Federal Prosecution for tax evasion crimes.
The Ajman Police has urged the public to exercise caution when purchasing goods from unapproved sales locations and encouraged them to report any suspicious activities. The authorities highlighted the health and safety dangers associated with smoking and assured that they will continue to monitor and deal firmly with tax evasion crimes that threaten national security and the safety of citizens and residents.
Colonel Al Nuaimi commended the efficiency and expertise of the police officers involved in the operation, which led to the successful apprehension of the suspects. He reiterated the importance of public vigilance in identifying and reporting illicit activities and emphasized the adverse health effects of smoking.
